Does anyone know what the PH level should be for the engine coolant in the 3208
Cat? Mine is testing at an 11 PH, making it very alkiline. I purchased an SCA
additive from Caterpiller and after reading the label found that it is an
alkiline base. Using it will only raise my PH. The people at the local Cat
distributor didn't have a clue about the PH. My coolant protection is testing
down to minus 34 deg. It is still bright green but getting old. What should I
expect its useful life to be?

Thanks,

Larry go to NAPA and get Pennray coolant test strips to test your
coolant. They arent expensive and the directions are on the
label. The color is not important if it tests alright.

The coolant ph should run between 9.8 and 10.5, but check out the link I've
included. It has some good information regarding this matter.
