I am trying again to buy that Bluebird Dream. I posted on the forum
info previously about a nice 1989 WB I checked out at John Bleakley in
Georgia and I opted out because of the pink laminate interior. I am
now flying to San Diago Monday to ckeck out a 1991 WB which based on
the pics and information looks pretty nice.
My question for anyone on the forum is about the Primus Heating system
this coach has. I think I have picked some information that these can
be a problem. Can anyone provide information on what to check on this
system? Any other tips on 1991 WB Bluebirds would be helpful.

Doug,
I had a 91 SP36 and it had a Primus system.
I didn't have any problems with the system at all and came to the conclusion
that it is second only to Aqua-Hot as far as performance goes.
The idea there was a problem I think arose because of the lack of repair
parts, but there are suppliers now for the repair parts.I would be certain the
seller gives you detailed operating instructions and tutors you regarding its
complexity.

You CAN get parts for primus
I have the parts for 2470,2480 and 2490 which are the models that were
installed in Wandelodge
To say you cant get parts is simply not true

Stephen 77fc35 with lots of primus parts

Stephen and Fred,

Thanks for the information on the Primus. I am relieved that at least there are
parts available. Hopefully I won't need any right away.

Sounds as if I have a lot to learn with all the systems on a Bird. I have only
owned one smaller motorhome for about 3 months before I got rid of it and
started looking for higher quality. I am pretty excited about this coach as it
is a California based coach with 50,000 miles and owned and maintained by a
trucking company owner (also always stored inside). Sounds great but I will see
on Monday.

Mark Dexter is the individual who supplied Primus to BB. He rebuilt my system
and informed me that their are very fiew parts avaliable for the primus system.
I do not believe that BB has, or can get parts.
I do not know what parts that you have when you say that yu have parts for the
below models.

Doug,

Best of luck in your bird hunting and we hope you are successful in finding the
right coach for you.

We must say however that we are really glad you decided against buying ToWanda
because of the color of her interior cuz she's OURS now :o) She is one
really sweet coach and had been extremely well cared for by her previous owners.
Mechanical condition was our #1 priority in looking for a coach and she
definitely had that in spades.

By the way, the laminate color is fine with us. In fact, we personally would
much rather have it than a white laminate (no offense to anyone with a white
laminate interior)... it's light but much warmer and less "stark" than white.
Patti was a Fine Arts major in college and I've learned over the 35+ years we've
been together that she knows what she's doing when it comes to color. Some of
it has even rubbed off on me :o) I know when she gets done with the changes
she has in mind for the interior color scheme that ToWanda will be a warm and
inviting home.

Again, we both wish you the best in finding the bird that is right for you.
We've found the one that was right for us. Viva le difference!

Patty and Ken,

You have a very nice coach and I looked it over very close before opting out
(because of pink). I am sure you will enjoy!!

The one I am looking at soon has Walnut which I am also not crazy about but
beggars can't be choosers. Other things such as mechanicals are more important
but since I am not in a big hurry I can afford to look for awhile.

Keep in touch and maybe we will meet someday.

All The Best!!

Doug:

One other option regarding the Primus system would be to check with
Coachcraft by MacDonald in Colombus, GA. Their web site
(http://www.coachcraftbymcdonald.com)has info on converting from a Primus to
a Webasto system.
