I have a 78FC, with leaf spring. The ride not that bad, but not
having owned a FC with air bags I have nothing to compare to. I do
note a higher ground clearance. I don't worry about road debre as
much, and I don't think it leans as much on turns. It is easier to get
under for any type of work and for greasing(many-many fittings). But
bags do give a better ride(I also own a PT with bags).
The only difference is in your preference. The weight of the birds
in general give it a good ride. Many people are surprised at the
weight. I weighed mine at a DOT scale and the guy there thought I had
rocks or something in it. He said he never saw a "motorhome" weigh as
much as mine. 28000+ lbs, and that was with only a half tank of fuel
and no water.
