My sender is working irradicly and would like to know where I can find
a new one? Also I would like to know what temperature the engine oil
should read when running the highway in a 6v92?

Jo, I also have a 6V92 in a PT-36. I note that my oil temp generally runs
just slightly over the water temp; that makes sense when you consider that
the oil cooler is a oil to water heat exchanger. On hills or hard pulls I
have observed an oil temp increase approximately in unison with the water
temp climb.

Does any body out there know any thing about the oil pressure sender.
It works for about 100 mile and than nothing. It is on a 1984 1/2 6v92
Does any body have a part Number or know where I can get one?

Joe,
I would be very careful until getting the engine checked to be sure it is not
the engine itself that is causing the drop in oil pressure. Anything below about
25 #'s oil pressure when cruising needs checking. Look for a Detroit Diesel
dealer in your area. Or call Earl Davis at Bluebird Parts 1-800-495-7787

Hello
I have new engine put in the bird before I brought it.
It has less than 20,000. miles on it now. If the oil pump works when
it is cold and shows pressure and still shows pressure after it gets
to running temperature, Why would the pressure gage go down to zero
reading after driving hour to hour and half?
Also I did detected a slight oil leak at the sender unit. Do you think
this might be the problem?

>I recently had the oil pressure guage go out. BB replaced the guage
and it still didn't work. Then they replaced th sending unit. Didn't
work. After a lot of consulting, they determined that the sending unit
and guage have to be replaced in matching pairs. They were very fair
in that they adjusted the labor as they figured it took too long to
figure it out. {'92 WLWB, 8V92) Hope this helps
