The Lone Star Birds completed another successful rally over the
weekend. This rally was centered around a tube float on the Guadalupe
River, a traditional hot weather weekend event in central Texas. Due
to summer vacations, a total of nine Birds were present.

Friday was for talking, eating, drinking and impromptu coach tours.
Saturday morning started off with an aerial fly-by salute to the Birds
from the Flying Circus (Billy Dawson) in his vintage plane. A dozen
adventurous souls then launched the fleet and took to the "toobing" to
cool off. The rest waved bye and guarded the Birds! Saturday evening
was a communal cook out between the Birds. Sunday morning saw the
traditional LSB potluck breakfast and, when people had recovered, more
impromptu coach tours, engine compartment inspections, and subsequent
departures.

Some of the other regional areas of the country have had some Bird
rallies. If your area of the country has not had one, you really need
to try to help initiate and arrange a casual get-together. You will
really enjoy the experience and will find that it is habit forming.
If you don't have a local regional event, remember that everyone is
welcome to attend the Lone Star Birds events. In the past, we have
had many Bird owners from outside Texas attend. Many even came back
to another event! The Lone Star Birds Rally Schedule is in the Files
under Rally Information.
