I have a a 87 PT-40 with two Statpower 40 amp chargers that have quit working.
Any recommendations for replacements?

Iwould have a look at having them rebuilt at statpower not a dealer
but at the company it can be fairly reasonable

Pete,
I'm not sure of the brand/rating of the chargers that I removed from our
1987 PT38. I know they cooked the batteries.
Kevin McKeown of this forum suggested the Progressive chargers to me. I
installed two Progressive Dynamics with the Charge Wizards. I ordered
the PD9155R. Progressive was out of stock so they sent the PD9160AR, no
extra cost to me. These are the factory serviced power converters. They
cost less than the new units and have a one year replacement guarantee.
My batteries are happy with these chargers.

Interesting topic, as the PT38 I just purchased has one 40 amp charger
working.
Instead of replacing them with more chargers, I was thinking of replacing
them with a 2500 watt inverter with 100 - 130 amp 3 stage, temperature
correcting
charger built in. Other than the cost (approx $1,400) is there anything else
I am missing?
I would think that the 1986 era inverter is inefficient and likely to die in
the future anyway.

If you're thinking about a Trace unit, think again. If the
inverter needs work, you're without a charger. and with
Trace, the turn around time to have it fixed is lengthy. Trace quality
has gone down since their buyout...

I have a couple of 3000w Freedom inverters which I believe the
charging section is malfunctioning. Any idea how much this would cost
to fix and how long it would take?

I need your input. I am looking at changing my old battery boilers. I have been
reading about IOTA CHARGERS.
I notice a lot of posts about using the DLS-45 Amp output. The old chargers are
60 amp. each. Would it be better to put two 55 amp or even two 75 amp.
Can you disconnect the old chargers and use the same wireing and regulators.
Where have you found the best pricing.

Howard I have an bank of eight six volt house batteries charged by two 55amp
IOTAs. If I were to do it again I think I would put in two 75amp. IOTAs are
great with the add-on wizard device and the price is very reasonable.
