Thanks, Mike. I was told that SPs delivered more useful torque because of not
having the long driveshaft. I'm glad to hear of your positive experience with
the FCs. They seem to provide more bang for the buck, as it were. JOHN B

You'll be OK with 300hp FC. I wouldn't want to use a SP for mountain
climbing, all it can do to pull its self.
Make sure the cooling system is in excellent shape, hoses, belts thermostats
and water pump. The fuel system is another area of potential trouble,
particularly the pusher pump
located just ahead of the rear axle on the curb side.
If you mechanically challenged, consider a new unit with a warrantee, not a
jab just a fact. Wanderlodge can be a major money pit if you have to hire out
all work needed.
I have pulled as much as 48,000# total gvw with a 3208 powered vehicle and
10,000# with my FC 250 hp. Got 6 mpg and went kinda slow on the hills.

cost is lower, would be the reason I ask.

Why would a 34,00lb SP with 300hp be any different on hills than a FC
with 300hp, does the FC weigh less?

By the way, what is the pusher pump's function? Are they problematic in any
particular year model? I'm interested in an 88 FC35.

When I had my service trailer, it weighed 11000 pound loaded with tools and
