Hello WaGu .

The other day while climbing from Q I had a loss of Power , and Black smoke from the Exhaust. I pulled over after noticing the Pyrometer had reached 1,400 , Not Good I know .

Found a loose clamp, and all was well , or at least I thought so . When I exited the HWY , we came to a stop , upon accelerating out of the turn I heard what sounded like a SIREN !! , I let up of the fuel and it went away ? Curious as to where it came from, I looked all around but saw no rescue vehicles , nor was the ground shaking ( earth quake, Ca Smile ) .
what I did noticed , upon every start up , when the turbo would boost , I heard the siren ?

My Question, do you think this a Turbo or Clamp Issue or ..add your thoughts ?

No white or Black Smoke
Good Boost

thank you in advance for your thoughts Smile
looks like a great way to go , has anyone ever used this or one like it ?

ISSPRO, INC.'s line of digital instruments are available in 2-1/16" diameter (commonly referred to as 2-inch Gauges). The range is 0 to 1990° and can be used on low temperature engines as well as high temperature applications. The instrument updates temperature three times per second for extreme accuracy. An automatic brightness control adjusts the display intensity for optimal visibility. An alarm feature is standard, flashing when a temperature of 1150°F is reached. An output is available that can be used to activate a light, buzzer or another alarm device.
The gasket between the turbo and AIr intake manifold is blown.
Or, one of your CAC hoses has a hole in it. Look at your hoses carefully. Feel around them for a hole.
thank you Charlie, how do I test ? Soap water ??
I think the safest method would be a mirror with the engine off. There will be a 1" failure of the gasket, probably on the top of the turbo, intake surface.
thank you both for the info, and advice. I'm flying East today for a week , and when I return next weekend I will get back on this . Thank you again for the help , sure feels better having a idea what's wrong, not knowing leads to many doomsday thoughts about motor damage $$ .
well happy to report it was indeed the hose and clamp. It had a crack/tear in it , and when I tightened it , the torn portion was open . The mechanic stated this was the cause of the high pitch sound I was hearing . Thank you for all the advise and calls .
