Hi,

My water pressure is very low when hooked to park water. When I use the
fresh tank water and the pumps the pressure is fine. I think I remember
hearing something about the fresh water inlet valve being spring
loaded. Does anyone have any experience trouble shooting the valve?

By the way, I took the Microphor toilet apart and replaced the seal in
the hopper. I think it is a poorly designed air assisted toilet and
will replace if I have trouble with it again. Anyone have any
experience with any other brand of air assisted other than Microphor?

Thanks,

As to water pressure, the culprit is the entire
inlet assembly which is a combination pressure
reducer/volume limiter and checkvalve.

Some of us have reworked/replaced the entire
assembly with a commercial 3/4" brass adjustable
pressure regulator, a 3/4" checkvalve, and the
necessary fittings to couple to the existing hose as
the hose is not the problem we originally thought.
That also requires a new metal plate to fill the
original opening and to provide the structure to hold
the 3/4" female hose connector. Total package cost
approached $100 but was well worth it to achieve
volume from the shore water similar to that you
experience at home. While we were at it, some added a
pressure meter. One caveat - care has to be exercised
in the winter months as the volume of hot water can
easily exceed the capacity of the Aqua-Hot. Of
course, that depends upon the difference between the
inlet water temp and your shower temp preferences.

I know Randy Dupree removed his air assisted Microphor and just replaced it
with a regular gravity model. Yes his plumbing did have to go laterally for
a short distance but he reasoned it had sufficient slope and the distance
was not so great that the toilet contents wouldn't make it to waste tank.
Turns out he was right and he didn't need an air assisted system after all.
Of course your situation may be different so I would ask him for specifics.

As John said, the problem can be fixed with a change of regulator
and inlet connection.
Here is a link to the photos of my change.

As far as the AquaHot is concerned, there is a tempering valve on
the AquaHot that can be adjusted if needed. By turning down the
amount of cold mixed with the hot, the water will maintain a proper
temperature.

I always use my water pump and refill the tank when needed. This way, if I go
someplace all I have to do is turn off the pump.

If the pump pressure is adequate, why not simply use the tank water and refill
as needed. I don't generally like to have a full tank when traveling and this
method keeps the water in the tank fresh.

Rich,

Among your many skills, I can see you should have been a plumber
instead of an electrician, LOL.

I, too, have low pressure and removed the inlet valve and do not have
a pressure regulator or strainer , just a check valve. I have been
told that it is probably the sporlan valve that needs cleaning. Don't
know where your sporlan valve is located, but mine appears (appears
because I can't see it, but can hear it when switched) to be buried
areound the pumps in an impossible area to reach without removing half
the plumbing and charcoal filter.

And you don't have to worry about them camp grounds with big water pressure
popping a water line.

Hi Paul,
In my case the culprit was the regulator/fill valve. The flow
increased dramatically with the new setup. The tank fills in about
1/2 the time too. My Sporlan valve is next to the filters in #2
roadside bay, behind the pumps, probably the same as yours. I
haven't had to get at it yet so I don't know how much trouble it is.
I'm waiting for you to do it then tell me how!

I haven't taken the bus out since Labor Day, but had occasion to be in it over
the weekend. When I used the water, the water pump ran continuously and the
water pressure was low at all faucets. Soooo, I assume the wonderful Sporlan
valve has struck once again and is stuck. Anyone agree or disagree?
